Gift from a friend

A brief description for those unfamiliar....Gigantor is a local adaptation of the Japanese animation Tetsujin 28-go, a manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama released in 1956. Originally produced in black and white, the show was colorized and revived in the nineties with many DVD re-releases.

Yup, its works as usual, until when I went to the bank, there was a surprise waiting for me, the bank teller that I usually go, had this for me, a candy container in the shape of...you guessed it...Tetsujin 28!!! Here's the pics....

Sweet ain't it though there was no candy, the container was a pleasant surprise....gotta thank the bank teller....life's full of surprises...

Another wonder from the Soul of Chogokin line by Bandai, simple yet alluring, much like all the smaller chogokins eg: Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Leopaldon etc, GX-44 Tetsujin 28 Go is made of 90% diecast and what a robot to behold!!
 

Solid robot and quite a sight compared to the original Popy version, though the articulation's not comparable to the animation, Tetsujin has it where it counts. The good news, triple-jointed elbows and knees bend all the way in thanks to spring loaded retractable plate behind the shins. The arms look kinda too long when utilising the 3 way joints but you still get some very dynamic poses...

No gimmicks on this guy, 2 extra heads, fists and not much accesories too, but still theres still some to be mentioned...
The rocket pack attaches to Tetsujin's back with magnetic pegs with spring loaded small pair of wings that pop out with touch of a button. The additional head allows it to look upwards for the flying poses.


Another very nice accessory is the remote control which is not to scale with Tetsujin, opens up with spring up joysticks and retractable antennas. Too small for role-playing though...
Not the best chogokins around but all and all, a good diecast figure with all the essential weight and decent articulation for the character.
