Brave Series Guardion

Takara struck a cooperative deal with the animation studio Sunrise (known for its mecha series, most notably Gundam) to develop a new franchise and set of toy lines. The franchise, in fact, would play a key role in the reintroduction of the Super Robot genre to the Japanese mainstream in the 1990s. Before Brave Gaogaigar, there was many other brave series robots.

From the vintage animation series "Brave of the Sun Fighbird." Here's one of the combiners from the series. Bad news, I don't have a complete set, Im still in search of Guard Wing so currently I can't merge to form Super Guardion.

The basic components to form Guardion:

All three of these cars transform into individual robots and also merge and form Guardion

Guard Star: Police car

Guard Fire: Fire engine

 Guard Rescue : Ambulance

The robot modes are pretty basic with minimal articulation much like most vintage robots.

 Guardion stands roughly 12 inches tall when combined, what I disliked, is Guardion lacks guns or weapons or worse still, maybe mine is lacking the guns or weapons.

Guardion is made up the 3 robots, the headsculpt is much like Optimus Prime with a twist.

King J-Der GGG

Here's G-14 King J-der from the King of Braves Gaogaigar series by Takara, released in the 1990s, King J-der is a battle spaceship comprising of J-Der and J-Ark.  Though I waited for a Cms version of it, sad to say, I doubt there will ever be a revamped version of king J-der. Although many people may not think highly of King J-der and its a big brick robot (much like Starconvoy and Grandius), it looks really cool as it stands really tall, 40 cm tall.

Though the cardboard is thin and flimsy, box art is good featuring the animation of King J-der on the corner.

The toy comes in a styrofoam tray covered and taped with a cardboard, intructions and sticker sheet in a small plastic bag.

Good news about of vintage toys, transformation is simple and stickers are very minimal, so no hassle trying to figure the whole thing out but with the simplicity, articulation and details are a major eyesore.

J-Der in robot mode

J-Der forms the head and arms of the combined King J-der, J-der stands roughly 6 inches tall.

Mega-fusion time, combination between J-Der and the J-Ark transforms them into giant robot, King J-der,  a massive, heavily armed fortress. 

The only accesory that it came with is the J-Quath, the ark-shaped anchor which can be attached to the arms. 

Though with the lack of articulation, or should I say a brick, the sheer size makes its presence felt in any collection, just in case, pictured is a 8 inch Kato for size comparison.

Though this is the only transformable full-scale version of King J-der available, making it not easily obtained nowadays but if you're lucky he still pops up on ebay and yahoo Japan from time to time. If you love big robots and old school is your thing, King J-Der is a definite sure-shot!!

Finally in, Cm Corps Brave Gokin BR-01 King of Braves Gaogaigar,  though not a new toy, released in 2006, I got rid on my takara version and replaced it with this version. Though there's lotsa nicer versions managed to get this piece at a sale price....

And after opening, the styrofoam trays!!!

Similar in transformation, nicer sculp with more poseabilty though not as sturdy as the takara ones. Gaigar has diecast parts and more accesories than the earlier counterpart. Let's have a look at the Gao Machines...

Gaogar, forms the main body and transforms into Galeon.

Stealth fighter jet Stealthgao forms the backpack, fists and head of Gaogaigar.

Liner Gao, a rail train forms the shoulders and arms.

Drillgao, twin drill tank forms the legs.

When combined, Gaogar and the gao-machines forms Gaogaigar....

Protect Shade, round transparent disc fits into an additional open fist, replace the normal fist.

Dividing Driver, fits into the fists holes, nicely detailed with a chrome tip.

Do take note, theres one major flaw, when transforming the Gaomachines back,  removing Gaodrill from Gaogars legs, the legs will tend to snap off that is one bad news for those who didnt know beforehand, to solve it, unscrew the legs, and loosen the springs for the leg pegs, hope this helps.....anyways, CMS released a renewal version for the diehard fans...
